BereavementNativity BVM's ministry to the bereaved is meant to comfort, accompany, and encourage those who have lost a loved one. Employing a small-group format and facilitated by Nativity staff and parishioners, Bereavement Ministry is offered periodically in 6-week sessions at different seasons of the year. Anyone is welcome to attend some or all of the sessions. The schedule is announced through the weekly bulletin.

Food PantryOur Food Pantry collection takes place on the third Sunday of every month. Parishioners are invited to bring nonperishable food items or make a monetary donation before Mass. Before each Mass, volunteers are stationed in front of the church, near the reserved parking spaces, to receive donations. The food is then taken to the parish center basement, where dedicated volunteers sort the donations, fill grocery bags, and prepare them for distribution. The pantry provides food to individuals and families in need, especially those who are unable to visit local food banks due to age, disability, illness, or lack of transportation. Through the generosity of our parish community, we are able to bring hope, nourishment, and the love of Christ to our neighbors in need. They also accept donations of turkeys and baskets for the holidays.

Giving Tree during the Advent SeasonThere are many ways to prepare for the coming of Jesus, including prayer, service, giving, and acts of kindness. Our Advent Giving Tree project is a meaningful outreach initiative that encourages generosity towards those in need. It channels our community's compassion and enthusiasm.

Good SamaritansGood Samaritans primarily focuses on serving Nativity BVM Parish, family, and friends. Our mission is to assist the poor, living out our call to be the Hands of Christ. This may include help with housing, utilities, food, transportation, and personal care items. Additionally, our parish food distribution effort will be included in the work of the Good Samaritans of Nativity BVM. Combining the two will facilitate our efforts to assist people with whatever needs they have.
The work we do wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our parishioners. The donations you make to the Poor Box and Food Pantry allow us to fund our vital work in the community. Our meetings are typically on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 8:45 AM in the Conference room. It is possible to attend via Zoom. |

Rosary MakersOur rosary Makers ministry helps promote the Catholic faith through the making, sharing, and distribution of blessed, handmade rosaries. The Holy Rosary is considered a perfect vehicle for prayer as it recalls the beautiful story of our salvation. Rosaries are distributed to families of newly baptized babies, patients in Riddle Hospital, residents of area senior centers and nursing homes and prisoners at George. W. Hill correctional facility. St. Francis Inn Soup KitchenVolunteers are needed to serve a meal to the homeless men, women and children at Saint Francis Inn in Kensington, on the 1st Saturday of the month. The group meets in front of the church at 9:45am and returns by 2pm.

St. John’s Hospice Homeless Shelter Casserole ProgramVolunteers make casseroles to be delivered to St. John’s Hospice that will feed the homeless men who reside there and who rely on the goodness of others for their food, clothing and prayers. The recipes and pans for the casseroles are provided by Nativity and are in the vestibule of the church. Prepared casseroles can be dropped off to the large freezers in the Rectory garage.
In 2025, parishioners contributed: — 1,100 casseroles — 75 bags of clothing — 48 boxes of toiletries Volunteers are needed for the third Friday of each month and those carpooling should gather in front of the parish office and will leave at 9:45 am and returns by 2:00 pm. Walking With Moms In NeedA New Ministry Coming This Fall — Walking with Moms in Need is a parish-based initiative to increase support for all mothers, including pregnant and parenting mothers in need, in the Nativity BVM parish area. Our ministry works to ensure that any woman who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant, or parenting in difficult circumstances, can turn to us and be connected with the resources she needs.
